Unit 1 Ratification General Meeting Oct. 23

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23  from 11 am to 3 pm

Unit 1 contract negotiations have ended when both sides, the Unit 1 bargaining team and the employer, signed off on a document containing the newly negotiated changes to our collective agreement. This document is called the memorandum of agreement and it is not a legally binding collective agreement  yet. This memorandum of agreement (also called tentative collective agreement) will be presented to members attending this meeting and will be put to a vote.

Members will have the chance to discuss the changes and to vote on the acceptance or rejection of the negotiated changes. This is called the ratification process.

The Unit 1 general meeting called for this ratification is on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020.

The meeting is on Zoom. Members will vote of the MOA once they understand the changes made.

The timing 11 am to 3 pm is to accommodate members with varied schedules.

Member in good standing

To participate in the ratification meeting you must be a member in good standing. It means reading an oath from page 70 of the CUPE Constitution (scroll down for the oath).  It takes a couple minutes only. If you have not been yet sworn in as a member, there will be a separate room where you can be officially sworn in, and return back to the meeting room.

The vote is administered by an independent external online voting system Helios. We will need you email address that will be entered into Helios voters list. Once Helios sends you the ballot you vote and Helios processes the results. Anonymity of the vote is guaranteed.
