CUPE Ontario 2021 Online Summer School

At the AGM, the Membership decided to send 15 members to the CUPE Ontario Online Summer School.

1) Challenging Racism – English
This online workshop covers what racism looks like in our society and in our union, and your role in challenging it.
2) Preventing Privatization at Work
• Learn to recognize the signs that privatization is coming.
• Learn how to be prepared.
• Strategize and plan to stop privatization at your workplace before it starts.
3) Using our Power at Election Time
There is an important election coming up! The outcome of every election will have an impact on workers, public services and equality rights. Learn more about how elections work, explore current issues and how to get involved…a little or a lot! We can make a difference!
4) Environmental Racism
Communities in Canada. Explains how Racialized and Indigenous workers have been marginalized by the Green Jobs Revolution. It will identify ways for Racialized and Indigenous trade unionists and community activists to take leadership roles in fighting climate change and environmental racism in our communities, workplaces and in our unions. Identify tools, resources and actions to challenge the social economic inequities that Racialized and Indigenous communities face in accessing good green jobs.
5) Bargaining for Equality
In this workshop we will look at some CUPE case studies where equity language was bargained and strategize about ways to prioritize equity language in your own locals and collective agreements.
6) Challenging Homophobia and Transphobia
Homophobia and transphobia play out in our workplaces, locals, and communities. Learn how to challenge these kinds of discrimination, and respectfully represent gender and sexually diverse members in your workplace.
