This is an annual commemorative event for the murdered women students at Polytechnique Montréal, an engineering school in Quebec. On December 6, 1989, a man, claiming death to feminists, opened fire at students, killing 14 women and leaving 14 more people injured.
The NIAGARA REGIONAL LABOUR COUNCIL hosts Break the Silence against Domestic Violence event in the form of a ceremony and breakfast, gathering/networking on Friday, December 6th at 7 am, at the The Stone Mill Inn, 271 Merritt Street, St. Catharines.
The event is free, only required is a donation of a personal care product (see picture below). The proceeds go to the St. Catharines Shoe Project, a charitable campaign that packages care products into decorated shoe boxes that are distributed among women taking a refuge from abuse in women’s shelters in the region.
Members who wish to attend, please let us know at info@cupe4207.org so we can inform the labour council on expected number of breakfasts.
