UNIT 1 conciliation:

The union has requested Ministry of Labour to appoint a conciliator to help the union reach a fair collective agreement with the university.

Conciliation is a formal step under the labour law, and is frequently undertaken to bring parties closer together and finalize negotiations. It is also legally necessary for either the union or the university to engage in job action or a lock out.

There have been two days of conciliation scheduled, February 20 and February 28.
