CUPE 4207 believes in supporting communities. Each year, we donate to various organizations, as well as to striking workers.
For the last number of years, a year-end donation in the amount of $80 has been made to each of the following Niagara-area not for profits:
– United Way Niagara
– Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold
– Port Cares
– Pelham Cares
– Start Me Up Niagara
– Niagara Migrant Workers Interest Group
– The Hope Centre
– Project SHARE
March, 2025
The membership voted to donate $1000 to the Striking Workers of PSAC Local 901, Unit 1. Teaching Assistants, Teaching Fellows and Research Assistants walked off the job on March 10 and were still on the picket line at the end of the month.
February, 2025
A donation was made to Period Promise Niagara to support 5 people for a full year with a year’s worth of Period Products. The Local has donated to this initiative on multiple occasions.
A $80 donation was made to the Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre with the understanding that this group will be added to the group of Niagara-are not for profits that we donate to every December.
January, 2025
We were ready to support our friends on campus at OSSTF 35 . The Exec made a motion to donate $500 if the workers needed to strike and $100 for snacks for their picket line. OSSTF 35 reached a deal without a job action.
