Trans Healthcare Day of Action

February 29th, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Legislative Building, Queen’s Park, Toronto.

The Ontario Federation of Labour calls for workers to show support for a Private Member’s Bill, the Gender Affirming Health Care Advisory Committee Act. The action involves reception and sitting in the Gallery to hear the second reading of the bill.

The CUPE 4207 Pink Triangle Committee encourages our members to attend. Our local will cover the mileage cost of travel for up to three cars, including parking expenses, and up to five bus tickets for our members attending the rally. We are looking for women who are interested in helping the CUPE 4207 Women’s Committee:

· create safe spaces for diverse women within the union and the Brock community;

· advocate for diverse women’s leadership within the union and the Brock community;

· increase & support the active participation of diverse women in shaping the union’s policies,practices, and protocols;

· prepare recommendations to the bargaining committees that speak to diverse women’s issues, challenges, and constraints;

· promote diverse women’s issues within our Local and the community;

· support diverse women’s rights within the labour movement and in our communities, locally, nationally and internationally.

Call for Interest in the LGBTTTQQ2SIA/Pink Triangle Subcommittee

The LGBTTTQQ2SIA/Pink Triangle Subcommittee is looking for members who are interested in addressing the increasing need for safe Queer spaces and public education. The LGBTTTQQ2SIA community needs attention and care right now given the increase in hate crimes, harassment, and violence against the LGBTTTQQ2SIA community:

*Trudeau issued a travel advisory to the USA for the Queer community, noting that travel to Florida, Texas, and Tennessee with particularly high rates of hate crime incidences.

*The Waterloo Hate Crime Stabbing in a Gender Studies class.

*Conservatives approve policies to limit transgender health care for minors

*Statistic Canada shows that the 423 hate crimes targeting a sexual orientation recorded in 2021 rose above the previous peak of 265 in 2019.
